Copper-Beads-Findings-by-Hill-Tribe

Copper Beads by Asia-Charisma.net.

Oh how wonderful it is when things are going right in the manufacturing part of our business. Our Karen hill tribe artisans couldn’t have been “more on the ball” these recent months. We’re still adjusting with soldering copper pieces as our artisans have been used to working with only silver for so long. Recent months, we bee testing new ground with other metals like copper and bronze but results are just not as pleasing as have a beautiful batch of silver beads delivered. None the less, we are very pleased with how hard they’ve have been working to get this completed with so much care and diligence. The last year has taken a toll on everyone and morale has been on a lubricated slide of as late. But since the Thai New Year, we have rededicated ourselves to do better and serve our customer with more attention. Motivating our artisans to come back and “JUST DO IT” was not an easy thing but we’ve notice big changes in attitudes and results in our products within the last 2 months. Thank you Jesus!

Today we receive a big delivery of GOODIES; copper beads, copper charms and hammered copper toggles and findings along with several kilograms of silver toggles and findings for our beloved customer in Canada. We won’t take pictures of those as they belong to her– meaning the silver designs are her own custom designs so we will leave those out of this blog but we are so happy and feel our Karen silversmiths are back! These are the group of folks we fell in love with before whom have been on the roller coaster with us since the first day. Yes, it seem we all fell in a dark pit of what felt like the pit of no return but now we taken on a new vow and told ourselves that no matter what the market says– we are going to chug along and give our customers the best product and with the quickest turnaround possible. Like we have done in the past when business was as smooth as a swan in a pond.

The result is great. Now we know who’s really watching over us and carefully motivating and guiding these the hard times.

Custom copper jewelry is created by our affiliate The Asia Charisma Team. Please feel free to visit and learn more about our hill tribe artisans and our work by clicking on the title link above.

pricing structure changes for hill tribe silver

Share

Pricing Structures : Hill Tribe Silver, by one creative Thai Karen village.

We are pleased a new pricing structuring system has been introduced at Silver-by-hilltribe.com as this was truly needed. Our customer need more distinguishable pricing system. With so much volatility in our silver manufacturing business, we want to offer our sincerest service to our customers. We are have been over concerned about how we can survive to turbulence in such economic problem and have nearly forgotten the fundamentals of why we even exist as a business. It’s the customer. It always has been the customers that have the foundation of what our business is about. The jewelry designers, the retail businesses and the wholesalers. With price being going up and then down and then up– who knows what is next. But the point of the matter is, our customers have been through this roller coaster ride with us from the very beginning. We must take care of them as without their survival, where will we be in a few months time.
It is our privilege to work with some of the best jewelry designers in the business of jewelry designing. What we need to know now is how best to serve you. You need different styles? Do you need different designs or more of the same in lighter weight? What is selling for you as a retailer? Can we work together to develop something to meet your local demand for certain products? If so, how? Please let us know. We are open to your ideas and want to hear your thoughts.

Where is silver price headed? When should we invest and buy silver? We don’t know as it seems beyond us. We’ve tried but don’t think it’s worth our effort and energy to try to predict the market when it compromises our relationship with the people who feed us– you the customer. If you know the answers, we want in! LOL

We love our customers and want to do what ever possible to take care of their needs. This is a major milestone for our little company. If you have any thoughts or comments, please let us know. And please do come and visit us at Silver-by-hilltribe.com

Comments are always welcomed! Have a good day. God bless.

Casting belt buckle master in brass and rubber mold

Share

Just a few quick notes on how this design came into production. A friend brought this nice looking brass belt buckle to me from a handicraft market in Vietnam. Well no, a friend of his bought it in Vietnam and wore it for years receiving many compliments from his peers until one day he realizes it’s beautiful and should be shared with others. From first impression, this design is far from being a “unique” design as the Anchor logo is well known to everyone. This particular belt buckle though had a feel to it that needed reproduction and modification to meet modern fashion. We’ve put our own ideas and a few twist to it so that it is more durable and practical. You can tell, we are a little excited about the outcome as this is our first casting of a finished product. And we are quite happy with the result.

The gallery below has images from what we were able to photograph during the process. There will be some videos coming later on YouTube. You can keep posted by subscribing to our blog using the field on the sidebar.

Our main objective with casting jewelry is to offer casting of logos, custom jewelry designs, ornaments and decorations that jewelry designers may wish to have duplicated. We’ve found our cost in creating a master rubber mold and master design is very competitive. Depending on your requirements, we can provide master and rubber mold casting for as low as 1500 Baht or approximately $50 USD (May 2012) which includes one Master and one Rubber Mold. Manufacturing and cost of production can be done in precious metals or base metal. Common metals we are regularly using are gold, silver, copper and brass alloy.

We feel this will supplement our hill tribe artisan’s unique handy work with our jewelry business very well. We know many of our customers are jewelry designers that have much appreciation for our Karen hill tribe silver and the Karen hill tribe village. Permitting us to create your custom Logo will tag each piece of creation with your name and connect you to the hill tribe families here in Thailand. It gives us much joy when we see our products displayed so gracefully online, on eBay, Etsy and many others. We sit back and ponder what it would like to meet everyone of you awesome creative designers. It would be such an honor and experience to see creative minds. That’s just a daydream– however. Be that as it may, we feel we can connect with you in other ways.

Our Karen artisans hardly get a chance to see any finished creation of their work but when they do, they are stunned! However, with so much hill tribe silver in circulation due to high demand in 2001 through 2007, the line of distinction has been flatten and overshadowed. We wonder what our hill tribe silversmiths would think if they see a piece of jewelry and know exactly that that bead he’s looking at came from his hands and his hand stamp tools. We can imagine our how wonderful they would feel. The Karens have worked very hard to produce their designs and had a great run during the high season. You’d think they would be burnt out by now knowing how difficult their methods of silver making truly is. Although there are machines involved in stretching, flattening and melting, each design is also hammered, shaped, cut, scrubbed, soldered and polished many times before it is shipped out to any customer. We can understand why so many of our Karen friends become quite attached to their designs– it is their family signature.

We hope to become more personable with our customers. Over the years, many customers have requested custom jewelry casting but being a small business we did not realize it’s importance until now. For this, we sincerely apologize. We want to make it up to our customers. Custom designs jewelry casting is now available. Our artists and craftsmen are talented and will provide with fascinating results. We look forward to working with you again in the near future.

Blessings.

Karen hill tribe silversmiths deliver on Fridays and Mondays

Share

Our Karen friends made a delivery today! We are a little more excited than usual as turn around time has been slow in previous months. This is not due to the fact that our Karen silversmiths are lazy or anything of that sort. It’s because orders are coming at a slower pace and lower volume. Due to lack of work, many Karen hill tribe silversmiths have taken on part time jobs or gone as far as moved onto other things to support their family. A few have even moved from their village in Prabhat Huaythom to take on construction work in bigger cities like Lamphun, Chiang Mai and Bangkok. It breaks our heart to see everyone being disappointed by our own high expectations. When orders come in and our artisans pick their phone and agree to come back to work– we are extremely pleased. We are even more pleased to see the results of their work in our hand because this just proves to us that they are as dedicated as we are. Most importantly this means we are able to send out customer order as quickly as we have done before.

Thank God for all of you. We appreciate your business and continued support!
